Signs There is a Problem with Main Sewer Line

The main sewer line connects your home system to the main sewer. It is usually run under your from yard toward the street in front of your house and may run under the driveway. Problems do occur with this connection and this article will discuss some of the signs and symptoms that there may be a problem with your main sewer line.

Slow drainage: Although this doesn’t mean you definitely have a problem with your main line it is one of the symptoms. It is best to try to see if there is a clog in your drains first. 

Foul odors: If you have poured bleach down your drains and the foul odor returns, you may have a problem with your main sewer line.

Foundation damage: Leaks can cause sink holes around your home which will cause certain parts of the structure to crack.

Random green spots in yard: If you yard has one or two areas that seem much more healthy than the rest of the yard, this could be due to sewage line leak.

New pest problems: Pests can fit through the cracks caused by the damaged main sewer line. They make their way into your house this way.

If you suspect you have a main sewage line problem, call a professional plumber. The longer you wait with a problem like this, the worse it will be to fix it. There can be other health implications by waiting. Mold and mildew can grow around and underneath your home. Don’t put this problem off.
